The Antwerp-headquartered multimodal logistics company ECU Worldwide has announced the appointment of Marc Meier as country manager for the company’s branch in Germany and regional head for the Central Eastern Europe region.
Meier will take over the duties of Thomas C. Heydorn, who will now take on the role of global head of Operations and Process Transformation.
Tim Tudor, CEO of ECU Worldwide, welcomed Meier to the company’s Europe management leadership team. “He comes with a wealth of industry knowledge, a proven track record, and strategic understanding of ECU Worldwide as a business partner,” he pointed out.
Tudor went on to add, “Bolstering our management team is in line with our strategic digitalisation and growth agenda.”
Meier is a veteran in the less than container load (LCL) industry, holding global logistics experience of over 30 years. Previously, he had served the DHL Ocean Freight Board and the Asia Pacific Management Board of DHL Global Forwarding, based in Singapore and Hong Kong.
In 2008, Meier was appointed as senior vice president of Ocean Freight and head of Global LCL for DHL Global Forwarding. “It is therefore expected to enable us to strengthen our position as a global LCL consolidator,” said ECU Worldwide.
Prior to joining ECU, Meier was also global head of International Supply Chain (ISC) in DHL Global Forwarding, helming the organisation of over 1,000 supply chain experts in 82 offices across 46 countries.
Meier commented that ECU Worldwide continues to lead the global LCL ocean freight consolidation, and its investments in the past years have positioned the company to further expand its services to e-commerce companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to leverage global growth opportunities.
“I am excited to join a team of like-minded, committed professionals, who, like many in our industry, have demonstrated commendable resilience in these times by investing strategically in building right technology platforms and multi-modal capabilities to overcome future challenges,” stated Meier.
