CMA CGM reschedules services to avoid congestion

CMA CGM has published the revision of a couple of its services with port call removals, as an effort to confront the global port congestion.

Firstly, the French carrier will omit the Port of Savannah, US on its Liberty Bridge service connecting North Europe with US East Coast aiming to ensure its schedule integrity.

CMA CGM noted that Savannah will be excluded from the Liberty Bridge service’s vessel rotation on a temporary basis due to the ongoing congestion in the port.

Below are mentioned the vessels and voyages, in which the call at the Port of Savannah will be omitted, commencing on 4 December with the CMA CGM Tosca on voyage 0LBAHW1MA.

Hence, the updated port rotation of CMA CGM’s Liberty Bridge service will be as follows:

Southampton – Antwerp – Rotterdam – Bremerhaven – Le Havre – New York – Norfolk – Charleston – Southampton

The Marseille-based company noted that during this period there will be an alternative option for customers, while Savannah cargo can be booked to the neighbouring port of Charleston.

In addition, the world’s third-largest liner operator will continue the suspension of Le Havre and Puerto Angamos calls on its Eurosal service which links North Europe with the West Coast of South America and the Caribbean.

CMA CGM had previously announced that Le Havre suspension will be effective until the end of 2021, but the situation has not improved yet, and the port of Le Havre in France is still facing heavy congestion and lack of productivity, as well as the Chilean Puerto Angamos, according to the company’s announcement.

The European shipping line has therefore decided to further withdraw calls in the aforementioned ports from its Eurosal service till the end of March 2022, aiming to “maintain the service quality in this difficult environment.”

Eurosal’s rotation will be Rotterdam – London Gateway – Hamburg – Antwerp – Caucedo – Cartagena – Manzanillo – Buenaventura – Posorja – Callao – San Antonio – Callao – Posorja – Manzanillo – Cartagena – Caucedo – Rotterdam

According to CMA CGM, the coverage of Le Havre for imports and exports will still be offered in transshipment in Antwerp, while for Puerto Angamos import/export there is no alternative routing.
