CMA CGM introduces peak season surcharges on Latin America and East Africa trades

CMA CGM will introduce new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on shipments from the West Mediterranean to Latin America and from the Far East to East Africa.

West Mediterranean to Latin America

From 1 June 2026, the surcharge will apply on cargo from:

  • France (Marseille)
  • Spain (Algeciras, Valencia, Barcelona)
  • Portugal

To:

  • South America West Coast
  • Central America (East & West Coasts)
  • Caribbean
  • Mexico West Coast
  • Leeward, Windward, Guyana, and North Brazil (excluding Gustavia and Philipsburg)

Rate:

  • EUR 150 per container

The surcharge applies to all cargo except 40’ NOR units and to contracts with up to three months validity.

Far East to East Africa

From 15 May 2026, CMA CGM will apply a PSS on shipments from the Far East to:

  • Mombasa, Kenya
  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Rate:

  • USD 200 per TEU

The surcharge applies to all cargo and remains in effect until further notice.

CMA CGM said the measures support service reliability and efficiency during peak shipping demand.
