CMA CGM applies overweight surcharge from Med to East Africa and Comoro Islands

CMA CGM has announced the introduction of an Overweight Surcharge (OWS) for certain shipments, effective from 18 September 2024, until further notice.

The surcharge will apply to cargo originating from Türkiye Med and Egypt Med, destined for East Africa and the Comoro Islands.

Specifically, the surcharge will affect 20-foot dry containers with a gross weight exceeding 22 tons. For these shipments, an additional fee of US$200 per container will be imposed. This measure is intended to address the additional costs associated with transporting overweight cargo.
