CMA CGM announces new PSS charges on multiple trade routes

CMA CGM announced several new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) across Africa, North America and Mediterranean trade lanes.

From 25 May 2026, CMA CGM will apply a US$300 per TEU surcharge from China to West Africa Central destinations, including Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo and Equatorial Guinea.

For shipments from China to West Africa South destinations such as Angola, Congo, DRC, Namibia, Gabon and Cameroon, the carrier will apply a US$100 per TEU surcharge.

Both surcharges apply to all cargo under short-term contracts.

The carrier also introduced a US$300 per TEU PSS from South China, Hong Kong and Macau to Mogadishu, Somalia, effective from 28 May 2026.

Another surcharge will apply from South China, Hong Kong and Macau to Mombasa, Kenya, starting 25 May 2026. The amount is set at US$700 per TEU for all cargo types.

In the Mediterranean trade, CMA CGM announced new surcharges from West Mediterranean ports to the US East Coast and Canada East Coast.

Effective 15 June 2026, the carrier will apply a PSS of US$300 per 20-foot container and US$600 per 40-foot and 45-foot containers.

The surcharges apply to dry cargo only, excluding out-of-gauge shipments.
