CLdN moves shipping operations to the UK

CLdN has completed the transfer of its shipping operations from Luxembourg to the United Kingdom.

The company said the move reflects its long-term presence in the UK market, where it has operated freight connections for more than 60 years.

CLdN owns and operates terminals in London, Killingholme and Liverpool.

Around 75% of the company’s sailings currently start or end at UK ports.

The company said the relocation will allow it to benefit from the UK’s maritime expertise and shipping talent pool.

Following the move, CLdN welcomed UK Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather to its terminal in Purfleet, London.

CLdN executives, including CEO Florent Maes, presented the company’s operations and discussed current trade conditions during a tour of the 130-hectare facility.

The Purfleet terminal handles 17 weekly return sailings connecting the UK with Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.

“CLdN’s decision to base its shipping operations in the UK underlines the strength of our ports, our people and our economy,” said Minister Mather.

Florent Maes said the company continues to strengthen freight links between mainland Europe and the UK.

He also highlighted CLdN’s recent acquisition of Samskip’s UK and Ireland services and ongoing port investment plans across the North Sea and Irish Sea networks.
