Circle Group deploys traffic forecasting solution at Port of Catania

Circle Group has announced the implementation of its Milos Intelligence solution at the Port of Catania, as part of a project aimed at forecasting the flow of vehicles entering and exiting the port.

The deployment positions Circle Group as digital partner to the Port of Catania and forms part of the company’s broader focus on developing artificial intelligence capabilities for smart intermodal logistics hubs.

The Milos Intelligence solution was configured to estimate the temporal distribution of traffic at port gates, providing Port System Authority operators with an advanced planning and monitoring tool.

The system generates predictive traffic trend analysis to improve operational coordination and identify potential congestion situations in advance, enabling more effective resource allocation and timely corrective intervention.

The implementation was preceded by a structured analysis of the port logistics context, encompassing process mapping, definition of the system’s operational scope and identification of the information flows required to feed the predictive engine.

Functional requirements, input variables, logical and operational rules for traffic distribution and the calculation assumptions underlying the forecasts were subsequently defined.

Results are presented through an intuitive dashboard offering both an overview of the port hub and detailed analytical views for individual gates.

The interface combines a static port map showing gates, terminals and major traffic routes with visual analysis tools including charts, summary indicators and tables for examining projected traffic flow trends and key performance indicators.

Luca Abatello, CEO of Circle Group, described the implementation as confirming the adaptability of Milos Intelligence to the characteristics and needs of different logistics hubs, framing predictive traffic management as a means of providing operators with concrete tools to foster an increasingly efficient, resilient and data-driven port management model.
