Cavotec has launched PowerAccESS, a new battery Energy Storage System (ESS) designed to support the electrification of port crane operations.
The modular and mobile system provides zero-emission power for RTG cranes during block changes and can replace traditional diesel generators.
Cavotec said the solution can also operate as a hybrid power system integrated into existing crane operations.
PowerAccESS uses LiFePO4 battery technology and offers scalable battery capacity ranging from 62 kWh to 494 kWh.
The system is designed for harsh marine environments and supports RTG block change operations, hybrid applications and fully battery-powered crane operations.
Cavotec highlighted several key benefits, including zero local emissions, reduced noise levels and improved operational sustainability.
“PowerAccESS represents another important step in Cavotec’s commitment to supporting the transition towards more sustainable and efficient port operations,” said Laurent Dupuis, VP Product Management at Cavotec.
“The system has been designed to give crane manufacturers and terminal operators a flexible and scalable solution.”
