Cathay Cargo is expanding its freighter fleet after Air Hong Kong signed a long-term lease for an Airbus A330 Passenger-to-Freighter (A330P2F) aircraft.

The aircraft will join Air Hong Kong’s fleet in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will primarily operate cargo services to destinations in mainland China and across the Asia-Pacific region on behalf of Cathay Cargo.

According to the Cathay Group, the additional freighter will increase cargo capacity, support the carrier’s regional network expansion and reinforce Hong Kong’s position as the world’s busiest air cargo hub.

The aircraft has been leased from Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) through its leasing subsidiary, Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM).

Following the delivery, Air Hong Kong’s all-A330 freighter fleet will comprise 15 aircraft, complementing Cathay Cargo’s fleet of 20 Boeing 747 freighters and the cargo capacity available on the group’s passenger aircraft network.

Dominic Perret, Cathay Director Cargo, said the additional aircraft will provide greater flexibility for regional operations while supporting the company’s future A350F freighter fleet and offering more options for freight forwarding customers.

The fleet expansion forms part of the Cathay Group’s broader investment programme, which includes more than HK$100 billion allocated to fleet renewal, passenger products, lounges and digital innovation, with over 100 new aircraft on order.
