Box carriers adjust intra-Asia routes

Several container lines have announced changes in their intra-Asia services aiming to provide their customers with more efficient solutions.

According to Dynamar, Asean Seas Line has revived its Japan-China JPX2 service, which is operated by a single 1,100 TEU vessel.

The updated port rotation of the service is Osaka (Japan) – Kobe (Japan) – Hakata (Japan) – Qingdao (China) – Rizhao (China) – Osaka.

Additionally, Russian container carrier FESCO has extended its intra-Asia route, branded as FESCO Intra Asia Service (FIAS), which connects Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. FESCO is deploying one 700 TEU boxship on the service that offers an average nine-day frequency.

The new port rotation will be Port Klang (Malaysia) – Pasir Gudang (Malaysia) – Bangkok (Thailand) – Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) – Port Klang.

Furthermore, Ocean Network Express (ONE) will launch a new fortnightly service, Vietnam China Express (VCX), connecting Vietnam with China’s Pearl River Delta.

Expected to begin in mid-April, the port rotation of the VCX service will be Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) – Hai Phong (Vietnam) – Nansha (China) – Hong Kong – Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh.

Dynamar noted that the service is thought to be a slot arrangement with Vietnam-based liner operator Hai An Transport, which will deploy a single 1,400 TEU vessel.
