The Belgium-based technology company, Camco Technologies has announced new partnerships aiming to proceed with both digital innovations and decarbonisation efforts of the industry.
Firstly, Camco will join the Terminal Industry Committee 4.0 (TIC 4.0) initiative with the aim of helping promoting, defining and adopting standards that will enable cargo handling industry to embrace the technology revolution.
TIC 4.0 aims to bring together representative companies from both the terminal operators industry and port equipment manufacturers and suppliers to collectively work on the elaboration of such standards.
“The key enabling factor for the cargo handling industry to take full advantage of technological advances is to develop and adopt commonly agreed industry standards that will allow objective comparisons of equipment/systems specifications and define the format and protocols for electronic data exchanges,” said Camco in its announcement.
This is the reason it has decided to be part of TIC 4.0, which has recently welcomed another new entry, the computer software company, INFORM GmbH – Optimization Software.
Moreover, Camco has also confirmed its partnership agreement with the International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport (UIRR). The company will join the industry association of European Combined Transport in its efforts of promoting intermodal transport and decarbonising the logistics sector.
UIRR represents the interests of European road-rail combined transport operators and transhipment terminal managers with the mission to advance the development and actively promote competitive zero-carbon emission Combined Transport for Europe.
Ralf-Charley Schultze, president of UIRR, believes that Camco’s track record and know-how of intermodal terminal automation will be of great value in the union’s terminal technology platform.
With this partnership and in its capacity of providing intermodal terminal gate, crane and rail automation solutions, Camco Technologies joins industry efforts in fostering efficient rail freight operations and advancing the cause of zero carbon emission and combined transport.
“With the call for sustainability now louder than ever, we are experiencing a significant increase in rail and combined transport projects in Europe,” commented Jan Bossens CEO of Camco Technologies.
