According to the analysis by Sea-Intelligence, global schedule reliability of container carriers improved by 6.6% month-to-month in October 2022, reaching 52%.
The average delay for late vessel arrivals has also been improving consistently since the start of the year, according to the report of the Danish data analysis company.
Additionally, in October 2022, the average delay improved once again, dropping by another -0.31 days M/M to 5.56 days. Meanwhile, the average delay is now consistently below the six-day mark and is closer to the 2020 levels than the 2021 numbers.
With schedule reliability of 56.4%, Maersk was the most reliable box line in October 2022, followed by its Swiss/Italian partner in 2M Alliance MSC with 52.7%. The French ocean carrier CMA CGM was the third container shipping company with schedule reliability above 50% in October.
The remaining carriers were very close to each other, all recording schedule reliability of 40%-50%. Wan Hai recorded the lowest schedule reliability of 41.6%. All of the top-14 carriers recorded month-to-month and year-to-year improvements in schedule reliability scores.
“In fact, all of these carriers recorded double-digit Y/Y improvements, with nine of those carriers recording improvements of over 20 percentage points,” commented Alan Murphy, CEO of Sea-Intelligence.
