Boluda Towage opens new Antwerp headquarters

Boluda Towage

Boluda Towage has inaugurated its new headquarters at Noorderplaats in Antwerp, strengthening its operational base in Belgium and the wider Scheldt region.

The facility includes modern office space and a dedicated training simulator designed to support crew development and the onboarding of new employees.

Steven De Nijs, Deputy CEO of Boluda Towage Europe, and Filip De Wilde, the newly appointed General Manager of Boluda Towage in Belgium, led the inauguration. Representatives of port authorities, customers, employees and business partners also attended the event.

Boluda Towage has operated in Antwerp since 2019, while its Belgian maritime operations trace their history back to 1870.

Simulator supports crew training

The simulator will form part of Boluda Towage’s training programme for crews and tug captains. It will allow personnel to practise vessel handling and manoeuvring under realistic operating conditions.

The training will also focus on decision-making, situational awareness, communication and preparation for different port scenarios within a controlled environment.

Experienced captains who remain involved in daily towage operations will deliver the simulator-based training, bringing practical operational knowledge into the development programme.

The facility is intended to support Boluda Towage Antwerp as the company expands its operations across the Scheldt region.

Northern Europe represents a significant market for the towage operator. Boluda Towage currently operates in more than 21 ports across the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Finland and Norway, with a regional fleet of 138 vessels.

The Antwerp opening follows the inauguration of Boluda Towage’s Rotterdam headquarters in July 2026. The two facilities form part of the company’s wider strategy to strengthen its European network and develop local maritime expertise.
