Authorities seize 46kg of cocaine at Port of Piraeus

Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) seized 46 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Piraeus in another major blow against international drug trafficking networks.

The operation was carried out by the Forces for the Control of Economic Transactions (DEOS) in close cooperation with inspectors from the 1st Customs Audit Center of Piraeus following a targeted risk analysis.

Authorities identified a suspicious container arriving from Ecuador at the Port of Piraeus. During the inspection, officers discovered 40 packages of cocaine carefully hidden inside the container.

The seized narcotics had a total weight of 46 kilograms and an estimated street value exceeding €1.7 million.

Investigators said they have already traced the modus operandi used by criminal networks that transport and distribute narcotics through Greece from Latin American countries.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to fully dismantle the network and identify those involved.
