Christian Roeder will succeed Julián Fernández as the managing director of APM Terminals Poti, Georgia, effective 6 June 2024. He will also join the company's European Regional Leadership Team.

Mr. Roeder began his career with the Maersk Group in 2000 as a MISE Trainee. From 2003 to 2011, he worked for Maersk in various countries. Notably, he served as managing director of Maersk Georgia from 2008 to 2009, during which time he developed a strong personal connection with the people and the country. He has extensive experience with the terminal's business, customers, and stakeholder landscape.

”Christian has substantial industry expertise, having held senior leadership positions across a variety of companies and geographies. We look forward to Christian rejoining the group and becoming an integral part of our team and contributing to our continued success together," explained Igor Van Den Essen, regional managing director of Africa & Europe.

Furthermore, Christian Roeder, a German national, has lived and worked in Germany, Georgia, Mozambique, and South Africa. He holds a Master of Science degree in Global Human Resource Management from the University of Liverpool.

Throughout his career, he has held various senior leadership roles, including country manager of Damco Mozambique and managing director and chief commercial officer of external transport and logistics companies. Since 2020, Christian has served as the CEO of DP World in Mozambique.

"I am truly excited that after more than a decade, I am back in Georgia – a truly amazing and fascinating country. Poti Sea Port is extremely important to the country and the region. I believe that the experience gained in my previous roles will be invaluable in driving further growth for the company. Our company's expansion, contributing to the Middle Corridor development, increasing customer satisfaction, engaging with stakeholders, driving new investments, and enhancing the sustainable development of the company and the people, are high on my agenda," added Mr. Roeder.
