Antipollution, a member of V Group, and ONEX Shipyards & Technologies have signed a letter of intent to build up to eight marine pollution reception and oil recovery vessels in Greece.

ONEX and Antipollution partner on Greek-built eco vessel program

The agreement covers four vessels, with options for four more. All vessels will be built to ABS class.

The project marks a major investment in Greek shipbuilding and environmental services for the country’s maritime sector.

ONEX will construct the vessels at its shipyards in Elefsis and Syros.

The vessels will collect liquid and solid waste from commercial ships in Greek ports and transport it to Antipollution’s onshore treatment facility.

The facility will process the waste and convert it into solid fuel, supporting a circular approach to maritime waste management.

ABS said the project highlights the growth of specialized shipbuilding in Greece while improving the environmental performance of port operations.

The initiative also supports the revival of Greece’s shipbuilding industry through the construction of advanced environmental vessels for the domestic market.
