ANL updates inland emergency fuel surcharge in Australia

ANL has announced revised Inland Emergency Fuel Surcharge (IEFS) levels for Australia, citing continued volatility in global fuel markets driven by the current geopolitical environment.

The carrier said uncertainty in international energy markets is expected to keep diesel prices elevated in the coming weeks, increasing the operating costs of inland transportation. To maintain reliable inland services, ANL and the CMA CGM Group will adjust the IEFS applicable to inland cargo movements in Australia.

Effective for sailings on or after 10 July 2026, the revised surcharge levels are:

  • Barge: +4.5% on the agreed inland haulage rate
  • Rail: +8.3%
  • Road: +4.4%
  • Barge & Road: +4.5%
  • Rail & Road: +8.3%

The surcharge applies to inland services for cargo loading and unloading at Australian ports. For export shipments, the IEFS will be based on the vessel departure date, while for imports it will be based on the discharge date.

ANL said the Inland Emergency Fuel Surcharge will remain in effect until further notice and may be adjusted in line with market conditions and applicable regulatory requirements.
