Abu Dhabi Food Hub has signed an agreement with Axione Development for the development of advanced cold chain infrastructure.

Abu Dhabi Food Hub has signed an agreement with Axione Development for the development of advanced cold chain infrastructure on a 37,000 square metre plot under a 50-year land lease arrangement.

The facility will serve as enabling infrastructure for the broader ecosystem of traders and businesses operating within Abu Dhabi Food Hub’s integrated marketplace, strengthening cold chain capabilities across wholesale trade, distribution and value-added food supply activities.

The agreement represents a significant commercial milestone for Abu Dhabi Food Hub as it advances toward operational readiness in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The project brings together wholesale trade, logistics, warehousing, distribution and digital enablement within a single integrated platform designed to enhance the efficiency and resilience of regional food supply chains, aligned with the UAE’s long-term food security objectives.

Abdulla Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities and Free Zones at AD Ports Group, described the partnership as a practical expression of how national food security priorities can be translated into market infrastructure that supports the efficient movement, storage and trade of food products.

He positioned Abu Dhabi Food Hub as a central food trade gateway for the UAE and the wider region, with the Axione agreement reinforcing its development trajectory.

Jens Michel, CEO of Abu Dhabi Food Hub, highlighted the agreement as evidence of growing market demand for purpose-built facilities that meet the evolving needs of regional and global food trade.

Mikhail Zarkhi and Daniel Ilizarov, Managing Partners of Axione Development, described the project as a strategic step in delivering institutional-grade, high-specification cold chain infrastructure aligned with global standards and designed to support scalable, long-term capital deployment within a compelling regulatory and logistics environment.
