AD Ports Group has announced the formation of the Consortium of UAE Shipbuilders, the first unified platform of its kind in the country, bringing together national industry players across shipbuilding, vessel repair, fabrication and marine engineering.
The initiative is led by Noatum Maritime, part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime and Shipping Cluster, and is designed to strengthen coordination across the domestic maritime sector while expanding access to larger and more complex projects for small and medium-sized companies in both local and international markets.
The founding membership of the Consortium includes AD Ports Group, SAFEEN Drydocks, Premier Marine Engineering Services, Dubai Shipbuilding and Engineering, Al Seer Marine, Dutch Oriental, JOME Engineering, Saifee, Blue Gulf Ship Builders and MBK Marine Industries, among others, spanning the full range of shipbuilding, steel production, marine engineering and fabrication capabilities.
The Consortium is intended to improve visibility across project pipelines, enable more efficient procurement and support coordinated project execution, increasing overall delivery capability and sector competitiveness across the maritime value chain.
Particular emphasis is placed on expanding participation by locally based small and medium-sized shipyards, providing a structured pathway for smaller operators to access opportunities that would otherwise be beyond their individual reach.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, described the Consortium as a reflection of the UAE’s commitment to advancing national industrial capabilities in line with broader economic diversification objectives, positioning the country to play a more prominent role in global maritime trade and manufacturing through a more connected and competitive national shipbuilding ecosystem.
