AD Ports Group and Borouge Plc have signed a partnership agreement to explore the development of an alternative export hub on the UAE East Coast, aiming to strengthen export resilience and improve operational flexibility.
Announced on 19 May in Abu Dhabi, the collaboration forms part of Borouge’s long-term export strategy and focuses on enhancing continuity across its global logistics operations.
Under the agreement, both companies will evaluate opportunities to expand logistics cooperation by leveraging AD Ports Group’s marine connectivity and port infrastructure, including Fujairah Terminals and the group’s Eastern ports facilities.
The proposed initiative also includes assessing the development of dedicated polyolefins infrastructure on the UAE East Coast to support future export growth.
The companies aim to reduce reliance on congested maritime routes while improving vessel scheduling and routing flexibility. As part of the collaboration, AD Ports Group and Borouge will engage with shipping lines to explore the introduction of additional services through Fujairah Terminals.
The project is expected to support more stable and reliable export flows through a diversified network of ports and logistics assets.
Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of the Ports Cluster at AD Ports Group, said: “We look forward to collaborating with Borouge to explore opportunities that leverage AD Ports Group’s integrated port and logistics capabilities to support essential industrial exports and strengthen regional and global trade connectivity in line with the vision of our wise leadership.”
Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge Plc, added: “This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in Borouge Plc’s logistics capabilities, supporting our continued growth.
“Together with AD Ports Group, we are building a more flexible and diversified network that enhances reliability, ensures continuity of supply, and reinforces our position as a trusted global supplier, supporting the UAE’s industrial strategy.”
Borouge is currently the largest exporter operating through AD Ports Group. The new agreement builds on a partnership between the two companies that dates back to 2001 and reflects their shared ambition to strengthen supply chain resilience while reinforcing the UAE’s role as a major global logistics and industrial hub.
