
ABS, HD Hyundai and Anduril Industries have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the development of autonomous surface vessels.
The agreement creates a framework for cooperation on vessel design, production, autonomy systems, and classification for next-generation unmanned vessels.
The partnership combines HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding expertise, ABS’ classification and certification capabilities, and Anduril Industries’ autonomous systems and artificial intelligence technologies.
Paul Karam said autonomy is expected to play a major role in the future maritime industry, adding that the collaboration aims to support the safe and scalable adoption of autonomous vessels.
WonHo Joo said the unmanned vessel sector is becoming a key part of the future naval market and that the partnership will help strengthen HD Hyundai’s position in the global segment.
Cory Emmons said the company expects the collaboration with ABS to support certification efforts for future unmanned vessels developed with HD Hyundai.
The companies said the project will focus on advancing practical and reliable autonomous maritime technologies for future commercial and naval applications.
