American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Alfred Maritime GmbH have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop technical projects for the cruise sector.

The agreement sets a framework for collaboration in three areas. These include fleet performance and health monitoring, maintenance optimization, and safety and emergency systems.

The partnership combines Alfred Maritime’s expertise in fleet performance management with ABS’ leadership in classification and safety. The companies aim to align digital insights with class-based processes.

They plan to reduce operational redundancies and simplify regulatory and maintenance tasks. They also aim to strengthen safety frameworks and improve reliability in cruise operations.

Joshua Divin, Senior Vice President at ABS, said the company is committed to advancing cruise vessel safety, reliability, and performance. He added that the partnership will support next-generation cruise operations.

Dr. Paul Meyer, Managing Director of Alfred Maritime, said the collaboration will create synergies that drive operational excellence and safety. He added that the partnership will accelerate innovation and expand digital solutions for the maritime industry.
