Wärtsilä completes divestments of gas solutions and water & waste businesses

Wärtsilä has completed two business divestments, transferring its Gas Solutions unit to Mutares SE and Co. KGaA and its Water and Waste business to Solix Group AB, with both transactions effective June 1, 2026.

The Gas Solutions divestment follows the agreement announced in December 2025, while the Water and Waste transaction was announced in February 2026.

Gas Solutions generated annual revenue of EUR 394 million in 2025, providing systems and lifecycle solutions across the gas value chain.

Water and Waste, with annual revenue of EUR 54 million in 2025, focused on environmental solutions for water and waste management at sea.

Both businesses had been performing below Wärtsilä’s profitability targets, having been placed within the company’s Portfolio Business unit, which was established in early 2020 to manage non-core operations earmarked for divestment or performance improvement.

With the completion of these two transactions, Wärtsilä Portfolio Business has no remaining business activities, marking the conclusion of a multi-year programme to divest all units transferred into that structure.

President and CEO Håkan Agnevall described the outcome as the successful execution of a strategy to accelerate performance improvements and unlock value through targeted divestments, positioning Wärtsilä as a more focused and profitable company going forward.
