US bets big on South Korean shipbuilders to counter China’s naval dominance

The United States has forged a US$150 billion shipbuilding partnership with South Korea that could fundamentally reshape global naval competition.



The deal, dubbed “Make America Shipbuilding Great Again” (MASGA), emerged from high-stakes negotiations at the White House as President Donald Trump sought to secure better tariff terms with Seoul before his August 1 deadline.
