South Carolina Ports has announced the appointment of Patrick McCrory as Chief Operating Officer, effective October 5, with the unanimous approval of the SC Ports Board of Directors.
McCrory will lead the port’s more than 500-person operations team, responsible for safely and efficiently running container terminals, RoRo and breakbulk operations, intermodal facilities and two rail-served inland ports alongside maritime and logistics partners.
McCrory brings decades of experience spanning freight rail, intermodal terminals, marine terminal operations, supply chain management, workforce development and major infrastructure project delivery.
He most recently served as President and CEO of Palmetto Railways, where he led the Class III short line railroad as part of the Southeastern rail network, overseeing major operational expansions and managing a US$ 450 million capital development portfolio.
His prior experience includes senior terminal management roles with CSX Intermodal Terminals in Ohio, Georgia and North Carolina, where he helped lead the launch of the US$ 175 million Northwest Ohio Transshipment Hub, as well as multiple management positions with APM Terminals across the United States.
SC Ports President and CEO Micah Mallace highlighted McCrory’s longstanding role as a rail partner to SC Ports, his focus on safety and reliability and his innovative approach to logistics as qualities that will serve customers and the operations team well as the port works to grow above market.
Board Chairman Bill Stern cited McCrory’s deep expertise across rail, ports and logistics as central to driving SC Ports’ growth and attracting new business to South Carolina.
