Port of Rotterdam appoints new director for container segment

Starting 1 March, Hanna Stelzel will assume the position of Director Containers within the Commercial department at the Port of Rotterdam Authority.

In her new role, she will oversee all activities related to the container chain at sea, in the port and hinterland. Succeeding Hans Nagtegaal, Stelzel, with a background in the German automotive industry, logistics, and digitalization, has been with the Port of Rotterdam Authority since 2018.

Throughout her tenure, she has held various positions, making significant contributions to enhancing efficiency in the supply chain. In her upcoming responsibilities, Stelzel will prioritize the effective and sustainable management of containers across the supply chain operating through Rotterdam.

“Container throughput will continue to grow in the coming decades. Rotterdam has made early investments into the expansion of the capacity in the port and will facilitate this growth sustainably and efficiently, including into the hinterland. With her extensive experience in digital process optimisation and hinterland logistics, Hanna is the right person to help us realise these ambitions and continue to build towards a future-proof and balanced logistics system,” stated Matthijs van Doorn, vice president commercial at the Port of Rotterdam Authority.

The port said that achieving the capability to handle an additional 8 million TEUs by 2035 in a secure, efficient, and sustainable manner necessitates the seamless integration of sea and hinterland operations.
