The Port of Maputo has selected Kalé Logistics Solutions to develop Mozambique’s first Port Community System (PCS).
The project marks a major step in the country’s digital transformation. It also supports Mozambique’s goal of becoming a leading trade hub in Southern Africa.
The project was awarded by Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC).
The new platform will connect shipping lines, terminal operators, customs authorities and other logistics stakeholders through a single digital system.
It will enable secure data sharing. It will also improve visibility, automate processes and support real-time collaboration.
The PCS will cover vessel operations, imports, exports, transhipment, cabotage, truck and rail movements, customs procedures, warehouse operations and performance monitoring.
The platform will integrate with the Customs Single Window, Terminal Operating Systems, Vessel Traffic Management Systems, and banking and payment platforms.
João Matlombe, Mozambique’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, said digital transformation is essential for improving the country’s competitiveness.
He said the new system will create a more efficient and transparent logistics ecosystem. It will also support the modernisation of Mozambique’s transport sector.
Osório Lucas, Chief Executive Officer of MPDC, said the PCS will create a smarter and more connected port community.
He added that better information sharing will strengthen the Port of Maputo’s position as a regional trade gateway.
Vineet Malhotra, Director and Co-Founder of Kalé Logistics Solutions, said the project strengthens the company’s commitment to digital trade across Africa.
He added that the Maputo project expands Kalé’s global portfolio of digital trade platforms.
