The Port of Los Angeles released an Initial Study/Notice of Preparation (IS/NOP) for a proposed John S. Gibson Truck & Chassis Parking Lot near the San Pedro Bay Port Complex, the first step in the environmental evaluation process. The proposed site location is not on Port-owned property.
The proposed project, which is located at 1599 John S. Gibson Blvd., includes the development of a 75,392 square meters site with a short-term truck and chassis parking facility and other site enhancements.
The project site is expected to be used for short-term parking since chassis, with or without containers, are not expected to be parked on-site for more than 24 hours. The proposed project comprises paving a section of the property as well as striping 393 truck and chassis stalls.
The proposed project will require an amendment to the Port of Los Angeles Master Plan and will be implemented in one development phase.
The IS/NOP is designed to solicit feedback, which aids in identifying potential environmental consequences and suggesting viable project alternatives that may be integrated into the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).
