The Port of Huelva began the year with total cargo traffic exceeding five million tons between January and February, marking a 4.25% increase. This growth is mainly driven by liquid bulk cargo, which rose 8.49% to over 3.9 million tons.
Alberto Santana, President of the Port of Huelva, highlighted the strong performance in liquid bulk traffic, an area where the port is a national reference. He noted that these figures indicate a return to growth in energy products and general cargo, supported by investments in new infrastructure.
General cargo traffic also saw a notable increase of 17.4%, reaching more than 276,800 tons.
On the other hand, solid bulk cargo exceeded 741,700 tons, reflecting an 18.1% decline, while container traffic decreased 7.4% to over 16,300 TEUs, affected by storms in early February.
In terms of roll-on/roll-off traffic at the South Quay, intermodal transport units, including trailers and semi-trailers, surpassed 4,900 units, up 0.7%.
Passenger traffic between Huelva and the Canary Islands exceeded 5,300 passengers, representing a slight decrease of 2.54%.
