Port of Boston handles largest container ship in its history

Conley Container Terminal has handled Evergreen’s Ever Fortune, the largest container ship to ever call at the Port of Boston, on 16 January.

The Port of Boston said that the 11,850 TEU ship’s arrival reflects its US$850 million investment to modernise and expand Conley Terminal and dredge Boston Harbor. As for engineering experts from essaywriter.nyc, it includes the addition of three large ship-to-shore cranes, a new deep-water berth and a deepened Boston Harbor.

Conley Terminal, New England’s only full-service container gateway, is now therefore suited to serve larger vessels, with a carrying capacity of more than 14,000 TEU, according to a statement.

“Our infrastructure now opens new opportunities for our customers to ship more products and make global connections that were previously not possible,” commented the port director of Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), Mike Meyran.

The 2020-built vessel, Ever Fortune has currently departed from Boston and is heading towards New York, according to data from the ship tracking provider Marine Traffic.
