Pacific Forum Line (PFL) has announced updated Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF/LSR) and Emergency Fuel Adjustment Factor (EFAF) levels for September 2026.

The new rates cover PFL services and partner-operated services across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

PFL updates BAF rates

For Australia-South Pacific and South Pacific-Australia trades, the BAF will be US$555 for a 20-foot dry container and US$1,100 for a 40-foot dry container.

Reefer rates will be US$833 for 20-foot equipment and US$1,666 for 40-foot equipment.

Lower levels apply between New Zealand and the South Pacific. The BAF will be US$359 for a 20-foot dry container and US$718 for a 40-foot dry container.

Inter-island services will carry the highest BAF. Rates will reach US$991 for 20-foot dry containers and US$1,982 for 40-foot dry containers.

These rates apply from 1 to 15 September.

Meanwhile, the Australia-New Zealand BAF will be US$285 for 20-foot dry containers and US$570 for 40-foot dry equipment.

In the opposite direction, rates will be US$380 and US$760, respectively. These levels apply throughout September.

Special rates apply to several Pacific trades

For cargo from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific to American Samoa (Pago Pago), the BAF will take effect on 15 September.

For services to the Cook Islands, PFL will apply a BAF of 26.3% and a Currency Adjustment Factor (CAF) of 19.4% on base ocean freight.

PFL noted that BAF levels from New Zealand and Australia to Papua New Guinea for the third quarter have been communicated separately.

EFAF also updated for partner services

The notice also sets September EFAF levels for partner-operated services.

No EFAF will apply between Australia and New Zealand in either direction.

For New Zealand-New Caledonia and New Zealand/Australia-Papua New Guinea services, the EFAF is US$130 for a 20-foot dry container and US$260 for a 40-foot dry container. Reefer rates are US$155 and US$310, respectively.

For services from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific to the Cook Islands, different rates apply from 8 September. The charge is NZD 300 for a 20-foot container and NZD 600 for a 40-foot container, or AUD 246 and AUD 492, respectively.

PFL said the EFAF will continue to be monitored and updated based on notices from its partner service operators.
