ONE adds Jacksonville to EC2 service

Starting in February 2025, Ocean Network Express (ONE) will integrate the Jacksonville Port (JAXPORT) into its East Coast 2 (EC2) service, establishing a direct link between Jacksonville and five ports in Asia.

This weekly service will employ a fleet of 13,500 TEU vessels, all operated by ONE.

The vessels will dock at the recently upgraded SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal at the Blount Island Marine Terminal, which has a 47-foot deepwater shipping channel. Stevedoring services will be provided by SSA Atlantic.

“We are pleased to add Jacksonville, Florida, as an enhancement to our East Coast 2 (EC2) service. By adding JAXPORT to our rotation, we are strengthening our connections between East Asia and North America while enhancing the options available to our customers,” stated ONE North America.

The service will follow a rotation that includes Xiamen, Yantian, Ningbo, and Shanghai in China; Busan in South Korea; Manzanillo in Panama; Savannah, Charleston and Jacksonville in US; Manzanillo; Busan; and back to Xiamen.

This route is expected to handle various commodities, including retail products, food and beverages, electronics, and intermediate goods. The EC2 will be ONE’s third service at JAXPORT, complementing existing routes to the Indian Subcontinent via the West India North America (WIN) service, as well as Southeast Asia and Canada through THE Alliance’s EC5 rotation, which will be renamed EC3 in February 2025.

A US$72 million project is currently underway to expand and modernize the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal at JAXPORT’s Blount Island terminal, with completion anticipated in 2025.

The upgraded facility will feature over 390,000 m² of newly paved asphalt designed to support taller stacks of loaded containers and will have the capacity to expand to 485,000 m². Once completed, the terminal is projected to accommodate over 600,000 TEUs annually, representing a 150% increase over the current throughput.
