MSC gains TISAX label, proving commitment to automotive industry

MSC is one of the first shipping companies to receive a Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX) result.

The programme provides a common assessment and exchange mechanism that ensures the secure sharing of sensitive information to partner companies, bringing standardisation, quality assurance and the mutual recognition of audits to inspire trust throughout the automotive supply chain.

The significance of this achievement is underscored by the frequent transportation of cars and their components between various manufacturing facilities, highlighting the critical need for secure data handling.

TISAX is a testing mechanism that was developed specifically for the transport and logistics industry and is based on the industry-specific standard of the VDA-ISA catalog. It is used to evaluate and exchange information security measures and is increasingly viewed by companies as a decisive criterion for selecting business partners. It was established by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and is a registered trademark governed by the ENX Association, which consists of automobile manufacturers, suppliers and four national automotive associations.

Furthermore, TISAX facilitates the sharing of companies’ information security standings while ensuring compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), safeguarding sensitive data. Its primary advantages include time and cost savings through the elimination of redundant assessments aligned with customer demands and the mitigation of liabilities by protecting critical data.

In addition to MSC, more than 12,500 locations in 80 countries have obtained the TISAX label, including Original Equipment Manufacturers and their suppliers.
