MSC has announced an upgrade to its Iroko service with the introduction of a new direct call at Cape Town, creating a faster, more efficient link between South Africa and major Asian markets.
The enhancement provides a direct connection from Cape Town to Asia, reducing transit times for both dry and reefer cargo. The first vessel on the updated rotation will be MSC Anchorage, scheduled to call at Cape Town on 11–12 December 2025.
With the new call, cargo from Cape Town can now reach Singapore in 15 days, Xiamen in 21 days, Ningbo in 24 days, and Nansha in 27 days. MSC also offers transshipment options, including Chattogram in about 28 days, Shanghai in 25 days, and Port Klang in 23 days.
MSC said the change supports growing trade between South Africa and Asia, while strengthening its network with wider port coverage and improved schedule efficiency.
The updated Iroko service rotation is:
Ningbo – Nansha – Singapore – Pointe Noire – Cotonou – Apapa – Tincan – Onne – Lobito – Cape Town – Singapore – Xiamen – Ningbo
