Performance Team – A Maersk Company has announced a new cold storage facility in Houston as the company continues to expand its network in North America, according to its executive vice president of operations, Jason Walker, who noted this new facility “will provide best-in-class cold chain services”.
The Houston facility will open in August and will be operated by Performance Team.
The Maersk-owned logistics firm will offer access to the city’s major ports with a dedicated fleet of shuttle trucks and chassis used between the warehouse and the port to expedite inland transit, according to a statement, while, easy access to both BNSF and Union Pacific rail lines and five minutes from major highways ensure multi-modal supply chain options to and from inland destinations.
“Cold chain demand in the US Gulf continues strong and we see a strategic opportunity to expand capacity and introduce a more integrated supply chain to make it easier for exporters and importers,” commented Diogo Lobo, regional head of cold chain for Maersk North America.
The facility used customer input to design a 90’ loading dock that is temperature-controlled and protected from the elements, which is an important functionality for handling frozen and fresh commodities.
