Maersk has set its Intermodal Fuel Fee at 27% across selected Australian states and New Zealand from 1 October 2026.
The Export Fuel Surcharge and Import Fuel Surcharge apply to landside transportation services. Maersk initially introduced the fee on 16 March 2026.
The October levels are:
| Country | State or market | Intermodal fuel fee |
|---|---|---|
| Australia | Victoria | 27% |
| Australia | New South Wales | 27% |
| Australia | Queensland | 27% |
| Australia | South Australia | 27% |
| Australia | Western Australia | 27% |
| New Zealand | Nationwide | 27% |
Maersk attributed the charges to higher global energy prices and the impact of the Middle East security situation on fuel availability and intermodal transport costs.
The carrier will review the surcharge levels monthly. It said further adjustments may be introduced as market conditions develop.
