Maersk Line is set to breach its pledge to cap its capacity at 4.3 million TEU, as firming demand has seen the Danish operator chartering more ships to take its capacity to 4.7 million TEU.

According to Linerlytica, Maersk chartered Seaspan’s 2011-built 13,092 TEU Seaspan Pride, Sea Consortium’s 2023-built 7,092 TEU X-Press Pisces, Safeen Feeders’ 2011-built 3,421 TEU Safeen Power and Transworld Group’s 2005-built 2,478 TEU OEL Varun on private terms.
