The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has selected two leaders in the commercial operations bureau for the second-busiest seaport of the United States (US), Port of Long Beach (POLB).
More specifically, Samantha Galltin was delegated Managing Director of the Commercial Operations Bureau and Carlo Luzzi was appointed as Acting Director of Tenant Services and Operations.
Samantha Galltin, who replaced Kenneth W. Duncan, was appointed as Managing Director of the Commercial Operations Bureau, comprising the Business Development, Tenant Services and Operations, and Security Services divisions.
In November of 2020, Galltin joined POLB as Assistant Director of Business Development, following a 13-year career at the largest freight railroad network in North America, BNSF Railway, where her last position was Director of Port Business Development, Pacific Southwest and Gulf.
Additionally, Carlo Luzzi, who has served the port for more than 30 years, will replace Glenn Farren, who left POLB earlier this month.
Luzzi has served as Manager of Intermodal Operations and Manager of Rail Transportation since 2014, and as a Civil Engineer Assistant and Associate, after joining the Port in 1988 as an intern.
“I’m pleased to add Samantha and Carlo to the executive leadership team,” said Port of Long Beach Executive Director, Mario Cordero, who pointed out, “The port will benefit from their experience as we cement our role as the Port of Choice for trade between Asia and the United States.”
In addition, Harbor Commission President, Steven Neal commented that the port is looking forward to the ways they will contribute to delivering a US$1 billion rail infrastructure program.
