Konecranes has unveiled its new modular Generation D lift truck platform during TOC Europe in Hamburg.

The first models launched under the new platform are diesel and electric reach stackers, now available for global orders.

Konecranes said the Generation D platform simplifies fleet management and maintenance through a common modular architecture that can be configured for different operational needs.

The platform also meets upcoming EU requirements related to machinery safety and cybersecurity.

Generation D uses an open digital architecture with cyber-secure systems capable of integrating with terminal operating systems and third-party applications.

The platform supports over-the-air software updates, remote monitoring and remote diagnostics to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce downtime.

“This is about maximum performance with minimum complexity,” said Jeffrey Stokes, Director Product & Technology Management and Quality & Customer Satisfaction, Lift Trucks at Konecranes.

“Generation D is designed to increase uptime by making fleet management and maintenance simpler.”

The new diesel reach stackers retain the performance and durability of previous generations while introducing more predictable maintenance schedules.

Konecranes also launched new electric reach stackers under the Generation D platform. The company said the electric models deliver zero tailpipe emissions and up to 25% faster acceleration than comparable diesel units.

The electric machines can be configured with different battery and fast-charging solutions for single-shift or continuous 24/7 operations.

Both diesel and electric models feature updated digital interfaces and improved visibility for operators.

“Generation D represents a major step forward in how we support our customers’ long-term investment decisions,” said Andreas Falk, Senior Vice President, Lift Trucks at Konecranes.

Initially, Konecranes will prioritize the Generation D reach stackers for the European and North American markets.

The company also plans to expand the platform to forklifts and container handling equipment in the future.
