Italian port to digitse data exchange processes

The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority has announced that the Port of Genoa in Italy will introduce automated gate systems for road hauliers.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]From now on, truckers can benefit from an updated mobile application, according to an announcement. The renewed mobile App offers a range of digital services and provides up-to-date information on the status of the shipment and on access to the port terminal.

With the new technology feature, the Italian port has taken another step towards data exchange digitalisation.

The completion of the implementation of the Port Community Systems (PCS) E-port is vital to the creation of a seamless supply chain in which the Port of Genoa plays a central role and provides a platform across which all the activities linked to incoming/outgoing trucks will be digitalised, said the port authority.

In this way, the port will be able to eliminate the interaction that requires truck drivers to exchange paper documents with gate control staff.

This system will be extended to the Port of Savona across the future integration of the PCS in the National Logistics Platform to be shortly adopted by the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, which has been assigned the joint management of the ports of Genoa, Savona and Vado Ligure, which together rank as Italy’s leading port cluster.
