Imabari Shipbuilding has signed a joint development agreement with Kurabo Industries, RIBERTA CORPORATION, and Hyde Sign to improve safety at shipbuilding sites.
The partners will develop solutions to address two major risks: fire hazards and extreme heat exposure.
Focus on worker protection
The project aims to reduce physical strain on workers and improve overall safety in harsh shipyard conditions.
Imabari Shipbuilding initiated the collaboration to better protect employees working in high-temperature environments, especially during welding and heavy industrial operations.
Combining technologies
Each company will contribute its expertise:
- Imabari Shipbuilding: shipyard operations and safety needs
- Kurabo Industries: advanced materials and textiles
- RIBERTA: functional apparel and cooling technologies
- Hyde Sign: product design and usability
Together, they will develop new solutions tailored to real working conditions in shipyards.
Next steps
The companies will begin joint development immediately.
They plan to hold a press briefing in June 2026, where they will share further details about the project.
The initiative reflects growing industry focus on improving worker safety as shipbuilding environments become more demanding.
