IAG Cargo has expanded its pharmaceutical logistics network with a new Constant Climate station at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The addition strengthens the company’s cold chain capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. IAG Cargo now has 13 Constant Climate-approved stations across Asia-Pacific and around 100 worldwide.
Kuala Lumpur joins global cold chain network
Constant Climate is IAG Cargo’s cold chain solution for pharmaceutical shipments. It is designed for products such as vaccines, biotech products and diagnostic samples.
The new Kuala Lumpur station is served by a daily service between London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur.
The GDP-certified facility can handle both active and passive temperature-controlled shipments. In addition, customers can use IAG Cargo’s Critical service for urgent shipments. This provides priority status and enhanced shipment monitoring.
“Adding Kuala Lumpur to our Constant Climate network further enhances IAG Cargo’s presence in Southeast Asia, strengthening both our origin and destination capabilities for pharmaceutical and healthcare shipments,” said Jordan Kohlbeck, Head of Pharmaceutical at IAG Cargo.
“It expands our regional coverage and offers customers greater flexibility when moving temperature-sensitive goods across the globe,” he added.
Heathrow connections support pharma shipments
IAG Cargo is also strengthening its pharmaceutical operations through its London Heathrow hub. At Heathrow, the company provides third-party handling services for MASkargo.
Pharmaceutical cargo moving through the hub benefits from dedicated temperature-controlled handling. Shipments can then connect with other Constant Climate stations across IAG Cargo’s global network.
According to Kohlbeck, the daily Kuala Lumpur-London Heathrow schedule has been designed to improve service quality and reliability.
An early morning arrival at Heathrow allows same-day connections to several Constant Climate stations across the network.
The expansion comes amid growing demand for cold chain logistics. IAG Cargo pointed to developments in biologics, cell and gene therapies, and personalised medicines as key drivers of demand for fast and temperature-controlled air transport.
The Kuala Lumpur addition also follows the launch of the Global Cargo Joint Business between IAG Cargo, Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo, which expanded connectivity across their combined air cargo networks.
