GB Railfreight launches new intra-UK rail service

Major UK rail freight provider GB Railfreight (GBRf) has launched an intra-UK daily rail service between the Port of Felixstowe and Widnes.

Port of Felixstowe is the largest container port in the United Kingdom, while it also has the country’s busiest intermodal rail freight facility with services to 17 inland destinations.

The port has three rail freight terminals and tries to help cut supply chain emissions by putting more containers on more trains to more destinations.

In 2023, the use of rail at the port of Felixstowe saved over 500,000 lorry journeys and over 100 million HGV miles alleviating congestion and improving road safety.
