DP World Sydney reaches 1 million TEU milestone

DP World Australia’s Sydney Terminal has achieved the milestone of handling its one-millionth TEU in early November which occurred across 345 vessels, at an average exchange of 1,793 units.

“Despite ongoing challenges faced by stevedores globally, our Sydney Terminal continues to provide consistent operational performance and is on track for record volume growth in 2021,” noted DP World in a statement.

DP World’s Sydney Terminal in Botany Bay has remained resilient, delivering increased productivity of 10% year on year, with a further volume increase of 15% during the same period.

“The impact of the pandemic has placed considerable pressure on global supply chains, yet DP World Australia has continued to provide consistent operational performance, with minor delays to shipping schedules,” stated DP World Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Adam.

He also pointed out that DP World Sydney has supported the economy of New South Wales by contributing to the handling of a 12.5% increase in volume year to date through the container terminals at Port Botany.
