CMA CGM launches Med–Red Sea service

CMA CGM is set to introduce a new regional service next month the Levant Red Sea Express focusing exclusively on linking Eastern Mediterranean ports with the Red Sea, according to Alphaliner.

The move signals the carrier’s strategic shift toward streamlined, dedicated connectivity amid evolving regional trade dynamics.

The LRX will deploy three vessels of approximately 2,500 TEU capacity and will follow the rotation: Istanbul (Ambarli) – Mersin – Iskenderun – Beirut – Port Said – Jeddah – returning to Istanbul.

In conjunction with the LRX launch, CMA CGM will discontinue its Levant Middle East Express, which has partially overlapped with the new route but extended further into the Gulf.

The LMX itinerary currently includes: Mersin – Iskenderun – Beirut – Port Said – Jeddah – Khalifa – Jubail – Jebel Ali – returning to Mersin.

This adjustment reflects CMA CGM’s focus on optimizing regional efficiency and service specialization, particularly amid ongoing disruptions in Red Sea corridors and shifting demand patterns across the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East.
