CMA CGM announces PSS from China to Southern and East Africa

CMA CGM will introduce new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on shipments from China to Southern and East Africa from 21 June 2026.

For cargo to South Africa, the carrier will apply a surcharge of US$450 per TEU from North and Central China to Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Shipments from South China to the same ports will be charged US$400 per TEU.

For Beira, Mozambique, CMA CGM will apply a surcharge of US$550 per TEU from North and Central China and US$350 per TEU from South China.

The carrier will also introduce a PSS on shipments to East Africa under short-term contracts.

Cargo from North and Central China to Mombasa, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will be charged US$500 per 20-foot container and US$1,000 per 40-foot high cube container.

Shipments from South China to the same destinations will face a surcharge of US$400 per 20-foot container and US$800 per 40-foot high cube container.

The surcharges apply to all cargo for Southern Africa and to dry and reefer cargo for East Africa.
