Circle Group has highlighted growing adoption of digital transport documents across Europe, as new regulatory requirements come into force.
Spain is emerging as a key market for this transition. The country is preparing to introduce the Electronic Administrative Control Document (DeCA) on 5 October 2026.
According to Circle Group, preparations for DeCA are also increasing interest in the electronic CMR (e-CMR) for road freight.
Spain moves towards digital transport documents
The upcoming DeCA requirement is encouraging logistics and transport companies in Spain to move away from paper-based processes.
Circle Group said interest in document digitalisation has increased in recent months.
At the same time, companies are preparing for wider use of e-CMR. This provides a digital alternative to the traditional paper consignment note used in international road transport.
The changes are part of a broader move towards digital freight documentation across Europe.
Digital integration expands across Europe
Similar developments are taking place in other European markets.
Circle Group pointed to integration with Poland’s PUESC system and Romania’s RO e-Transport system.
These national developments are taking place as Europe prepares for wider implementation of electronic freight transport information (eFTI).
The transition is expected to improve the digital exchange of transport information between logistics companies and public authorities.
Circle Group said the changing regulatory environment is encouraging more transport and logistics operators to adopt digital processes.
The company expects the move towards interoperable systems to accelerate the digitalisation of freight documentation across European supply chains.
