Canadian ports team up on shipping decarbonisation

In 2022, the ports of Montreal, Québec City, and Trois-Rivières agreed to collaborate on a variety of issues, including communication, innovation, the environment, maritime operations, and asset management.

The Canadian ports are now joining forces to speed up the decarbonisation of marine transport along the St. Lawrence River corridor by announcing their combined participation in the Net-Zero Challenge.

The Net-Zero Challenge, which was launched in August 2022 by the Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Steven Guilbeault, is a voluntary effort that asks organisations to build and implement credible and effective transition plans to make their facilities and activities emission-free by 2050.
