Camellia Line, a joint venture between Japan’s NYK Line and Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC Line), will add one more ship to its current Japan-South Korea service, in order to meet demand from shippers.
The current service uses one chartered 735TEU ship, Boya, which was fixed from BAL Container Line and Camellia Line will charter an additional 556TEU vessel, Magna, from Japanese owner Kotoku Kaiun to increase the capacity.
The service route, which connects Busan in South Korea to western Japan, has also been reorganised, with the changes taking effect in September.
The new loop will be Busan, Mishimagawanoe, Hiroshima, Tokuyama, Nakanoseki, Busan, Moji, Tokuyama and Hiroshima.
NYK Line and KMTC Line have respective stakes of 51% and 49% in Camellia Line, which also operates a ro-ro passenger shipping service between Hakata in Japan and Busan.
