BSM denies reports of partial re-floatation of Ever Given

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) the technical manager of the stranded Ever Given has debunked reports that the vessel was partially afloat, following the ship’s grounding in the Suez Canal on 23 March.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]In addition BSM said that the grounding was caused by strong winds, rather than a technical issue with the machinery onboard. The shipmanager added that there have been no reports of crew injuries, no cargo loss and no pollution as a result of the grounding.

Nevertheless, the vessel remains in the position in which it came to rest, blocking canal traffic in both directions.

“BSM’s immediate priorities are to safely re-float the vessel and for marine traffic in the Suez Canal to safely resume. The continued efforts of the Suez Canal Authority and those involved in ongoing re-floating operations are greatly appreciated and BSM will continue to work closely with all parties involved in this operation,” said a BSM statement on 24 March.

Once the vessel has been moved from its position the necessary full inspection and repairs will be undertaken said BSM.
